Frequently Asked Questions
[Q]: Do you accept credit card payments?
[A]: No, generally consumers acquire either an equity loan or a construction loan to complete these large-scale building projects. A payment structure is set up and agreed upon at time of contract signing.
[Q]: Are estimates provided free of charge?
[A]: Yes, most estimates are provided at no charge to the customer.
[Q]: How many different estimates/bids should I acquire?
[A]: Generally speaking, three estimates/bids from different contractors will provide you with enough information to make an informed decision, however keep in mind that the lowest bid is not always the best bid to accept; other influences also factor into the decision process.
[Q]: Will I receive an immediate GUESSTIMATE at the time of my initial appointment for the estimate?
[A]: No, in order to provide our customers with the most accurate estimate figures, careful attention must be paid to the particulars of each unique project under consideration. This process generally requires approximately two to three weeks but sometimes may take a longer period time. We will let you know at the time of the appointment when you can expect to receive your estimate.
[Q]: What type of information will I be required to have at the time of the appointment for the estimate?
[A]: Generally we require that every customer provide us with all or some of the following documents :
· A set of architectural plans
· Plot plan
[Q]: Why do I need architectural plans and how do I get them? How much will they cost?
[A]: J & J Builders will provide you with a full set of plans or refer you to a competent architect that we have worked with in the past. Costs for these plans will vary but are pertinent to the project at hand and will be minimal compared to the entire cost of the project. Plans allow for a more accurate and competitive bidding process. Without them all bids are not placed on the same level playing field. BEWARE if you are receiving multiple bids without the use of an architectural set of plans! If the price seems to good to be true IT PROBABLY IS!
